AI meal-photo recognition
Snap your plate and AI identifies the foods, estimates portions, and looks deep for the things people forget โ the oil a dish was cooked in, the dressing, the garnish, the drink beside it. Mixed meal? It breaks it into components. Prefer typing? Manual logging is built in for when a photo won't do.
Observation โ Reasoning โ Evidence โ Recommendation runs under the hood: it sees the meal, works out the nutrition, checks it against your day, and only then suggests anything.
Vitamin & mineral tracking (traffic-light)
This is the part almost no warm, easy app does. Beyond calories and macros, your Twin fills in the micronutrients that shape how you actually feel โ iron, magnesium, vitamin D, calcium, zinc, folate and more โ shown as calm traffic-light progress toward your daily averages. Full where you're full, gently amber where you're light. No spreadsheets, no intimidation.
Personalised daily averages
Your targets are computed from your profile against recognised UK and international reference intakes (NHS ยท EFSA ยท NIH) โ not plucked from a generic chart, and never AI-guessed. They're offered as guidance to steer by, not limits to obey. There's nothing to "blow".
Honest confidence scores
Every estimate shows how sure we are. When a sauce, cooking method, or portion can't be read confidently, we mark it "unknown" and ask you a quick, multiple-choice question rather than inventing an answer. The category's dirty secret โ that photo estimates are rough โ becomes your reason to trust us.
Food-first, single-habit coaching
Each report starts with what went well, then offers exactly one high-impact, food-first nudge. Whole foods before supplements, always. One change at a time, because that's what actually sticks. Never a wall of problems, never a telling-off.
Wellbeing check-ins
Log mood, energy, sleep and stress in a tap. Over time your Twin surfaces gentle correlations โ not clinical claims โ so you can see how the way you eat and the way you feel move together.
Honest by design
We show our uncertainty
Confidence scores on every estimate; "unknown" flags instead of invented ingredients.
We use UK-authoritative data
UK CoFID (McCance & Widdowson) as the baseline, plus Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central for breadth.
We keep you in charge
The app informs; you decide. No auto-judgement, no forced goals, no scale.
We put safety first
Built-in guardrails: no diagnosis, no medication advice, and eating-disorder-aware design that steps back from harmful tracking rather than encouraging it.
Feature questions
Can I log without taking a photo?
Yes. Manual entry is fully supported โ a photo is the fast path, not the only one.
What nutrients does it actually track?
Macros (protein, carbs, fat) plus a range of vitamins and minerals including iron, magnesium, vitamin D, calcium, zinc and folate, all measured against your personalised daily averages.
What happens when it can't identify a food?
It won't guess. The item is flagged "unknown" and you're asked a quick, targeted question so the estimate stays honest.
Does it recommend supplements?
Only as a last resort, and always after food-first options. Whole foods and small habit tweaks come first, every time.
